On Saturday October 10th, the Raleigh Down & Derby Soapbox Race took place on Glenwood South. It’s a proud tradition in our area that began in 1938, founded by Sir Walter Chevrolet. Every year, racers compete to take home trophies for speed, creativity of design, and simply crossing the finish line. This adult race brings individual and business-sponsored cars out into the streets to take a gravity-fueled run toward the finish line. It’s a fun and exciting event in which Express Yourself Paint was proud to take part.
This year we partnered with Century 21 and painted their soapbox for the derby. We opted for a stream-lined look using Century 21’s trademark color scheme of black and gold. Our sleek black racer with bright gold pinstripes looked great as it flew down the track. As one of the sponsors of the event, we wanted to make sure the Century 21 car looked flawless for her big debut. If you didn’t make it out to see the race for yourself, here are some pictures we snapped of our racer.
